Francine Taran was very excited to join César Chávez Charter School as an art teacher in 2007. Art has always been an important part of Franny’s life and she is honored to share her love of color and creativity with the Cheetah students. Through art Franny hopes to support students in their personal growth and self-confidence.
After graduating from Santa Barbara High School, Franny attended U.C.L.A. and graduated with degrees in International Development Studies and Environmental Studies. Her career has focused on environmental education, working for the City of Santa Monica in their sustainable living programs and for the Houston Independent School District, teaching outdoor education to fifth graders.
While in college, Franny spent one year living in Costa Rica. There she developed a passion for the Spanish language, salsa dancing, and living “la pura vida”. She tries to enjoy each day by celebrating the many small joys - going for a hike, watching birds and insects, and laughing.
