Third GradeThe third grade English-model and Spanish-model teachers work as a team to support students as they finish transitioning to reading and writing in the second language. All other subjects are taught 50% of the time in English and 50% of the time in Spanish. Themes studied in third grade include the Chumash, Santa Barbara County, Space, American Government, Light, Energy, and Plants. Third graders’ growth and learning shows in the classroom as well as on the dance floor as they participate in weekly dance lessons with their dance teacher Rosalina Macisco http://web.mac.com/rosalina1 from the Santa Barbara Dance Institute. The classroom assistant and parent volunteers help the teacher and students as they continue on their path of becoming bilingual and biliterate. |
